In 2002, Winchester Community Music School undertook a study to define its Strategic
Plan for the future. This plan called for maintaining the excellence of the School
by retaining and attracting additional outstanding faculty. It prioritized the need
to expand the breadth and programmatic offerings to meet the desires of our students
and families. It highlighted the fundamental need to maintain the School’s affordability
through increased scholarships and tuition relief, and it raised the need to ensure
that the facilities we enjoy meet the changing needs of our students and the community
at large.
Keys to the Future: The Campaign for Winchester Community Music School is a $2 million
fundraising effort and represents a commitment to sustaining and enhancing WCMS’s
position as a rich cultural resource through its mission of enhancing the lives
of its students and community. In the 21st century, no nonprofit school can remain
great without a mix of tuition and private funds; more than ever, private gifts
have become essential to our ability to excel. If WCMS is to remain a strong contributor
to the lives of our students and community, we must attract increasing support from
those who believe in the School’s ability to contribute positively and enrich the
lives of all those associated with our School.
We are fortunate to live in a town that provides such strong creative resources
in art, music, and theater. We, as former WCMS Trustees and members of the Winchester
community, are firmly committed to securing the future of WCMS. We hope you will
join us in our efforts to make WCMS a continued cultural treasure in our community.
Sincerely,
