Early Childhood

We believe that all children are musical.  Our early childhood classes allow you and your child to explore their musical world in a supportive and fun environment. Children have the opportunity to sing, listen, move and play various child appropriate instruments while learning the rudiments of music.

Benefits of early childhood music education include:
  • Music performance and movement develops self-esteem and confidence in children.
  • Listening to music develops the auditory discrimination in the child.
  • Ingenious movement facilitates children to learn various concepts like balance, coordination, and rhythm.
  • Through music, children can enhance cognitive skills like counting as well as learning the alphabet.
WCMS early childhood faculty members are professionally trained teachers and
musicians.  Our curriculum is based on the philosophy of Swiss music educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze.  Classes are sequential and offer an age appropriate curriculum to make a natural progression to music theory classes and private instrumental lessons.

Take a look at our class offerings at the left to find a program that is best for you and your child.
