Annual Fund
Support of the WCMS Annual Fund helps sustain and enhance WCMS’s essential
role in providing exceptional music instruction and innovative programming
to more than 30 communities north of Boston.
With more than 60 dedicated professional musicians, WCMS—a nonprofit
organization--provides a wide variety of programming, including private and
group lessons, ensembles, and more than 100 free concerts each year.
Tuition only covers 80% of the School’s operating costs, and the Annual
Fund is a key component—together with investment income from our endowment--
in closing the gap.
A gift to the Annual Fund helps
- Provide financial assistance to nearly 160 students so that music can play important
role in each of their lives;
- Maintain our beautiful facilities, equipment, and instruments to ensure a rich and
dynamic learning environment;
- Sustain our ability to offer free concerts at the School and in the community for
the enjoyment of nearly 5,000 audience members each year.
Never underestimate the impact of your gift, large or small…it makes
a difference!

Capital Campaign
Keys to the Future, WCMS’s $ 2 million capital campaign,
launched in 2010, focuses on four strategic priorities that will keep WCMS vibrant
and successful into the future:
Attract, support, and retain exceptional faculty. The WCMS faculty comprises
performing musicians and teaching artists who are graduates of leading music
schools and conservatories worldwide. We aspire to provide compensation, benefits
and faculty development that are competitive with those of our peer schools
in order to attract and retain our highly qualified professional teachers.
Provide Additional Tuition Assistance. Students are central to everything
we do at WCMS. Our ability to provide substantial funds for tuition assistance
will make the School more accessible to students with financial need and ensure
that tuition is affordable at every level from early childhood classes to offerings
for senior citizens.
Support new innovative programming. WCMS seeks
to provide more classes and programs to further complement our strong private-
lesson program and attract new audiences. Collaborations with community cultural
organizations, schools, and businesses will provide educational and performing
outreach beyond the walls of our “Home for Music.”
Enhance our facility with capital improvements. Our beautiful
“Home for Music” must support our rich programmatic offerings in
a safe, comfortable and technologically well-equipped teaching environment.
Projects include improved technology in the teaching studios and increased
parking.
There are
many ways to lend volunteer and financial support
to the Campaign and we welcome your involvement! As with all financial support
at WCMS, there are a wide variety of Ways to Give.

Music MAYnia - Providing Music for All
Music MAYnia is
an annual fund raiser to benefit the School's Financial Aid Program. Held on the first Sunday in May, Music MAYnia is a free community festival that features live music performances, drum circles, a traditional May Pole dance, arts & crafts, face painting, refreshments, and more. Typically,
over 175 performers of all ages and abilities perform a music marathon of live, continuous music ranging from classical to rock. Throughout the event, over 600 community members attend the event.
Support for Music MAYnia comes from the local business community in the form of sponsorships and program book ads. In addition,
performers raise money through pledges for their participation from family members and friends.
