Early Childhood & Dalcroze Eurhythmics Classes

Want to know what children's music classes are like at Winchester Community Music School? Drop in to observe and participate in a free class for young children! Bring your little ones and sit in on Music & Movement, Musical Beginnings, Singing for Young Children, or one of our other popular Dalcroze Eurhythmics classes. These are fun, interactive classes with engaging teachers who have extensive music training and Dalcroze certification. Share classes with your child, enjoying playful activities and learning songs and rhymes. Have fun with movement games and guided activities, and learn rhythm with small drums and percussion instruments, scarves, and playground balls.

Tap, clap, move! Through active listening, singing and integrated movement, students are introduced to rhythm, patterns, melodic line and musical form. Using the techniques and principles of Dalcroze Eurhythmics, children are immersed in a multi-dimensional approach to learning.

Singing For Young Children (Ages 5-8)

Designed with young singers in mind, this lively Dalcroze Eurhythmics group class includes folk songs, singing games, songs from movies, children's rhymes, and choral repertoire suitable for children. Young singers will discover how to use their voice, be part of a team, and follow a conductor.

Eurhythmics + Melodica and Percussion (age 5)

This class combines Dalcroze-Eurythmics execises with singing &  playing small percussion instruments & melodica. Children also begin learning basic ear training and music notation recognition .

Eurhythmics + Wind Instruments (ages 6-8)
Monday, May 14, 3:30-4:15 pm
Children in this class are introduced to woodwind instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, and flute, and develop the basic skills for these instruments by playing the recorder. 

Eurhythmics + Piano (ages 6-9)

By learning to play simple songs, students are introduced to basic rhythmic notation & the musical grand staff. Recommended for students who have taken Eurhythmics + Melodica or by instructor permission. Access to a piano or electric keyboard is necessary.
