Update Your Piano IQ: Choosing a Piano
Featuring Patrick Elisha from M. Steinert & Sons
Choosing a piano is a significant decision, equal parts exciting and overwhelming. From uprights to grands, digital to acoustic, there are so many factors and choices to take into account. Fortunately, help is available!
In this free parent-education workshop, Patrick Elisha from M. Steinert & Sons will walk through some of the elements that may impact your decision. We will look at the differences between acoustic and digital pianos, grands and uprights, acoustic piano construction, materials, and design as they relate to your family's piano journey, and their pedagogical impact in experiencing touch and tone. This is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions that will help you to make your decision with confidence.
Free; advanced registration is strongly encouraged. Both parents and kids are welcome!

Sight-Reading Workshop for Brass & Woodwinds
Open to all woodwind and brass students, grade 6 through adult. Public welcome.
Would you like to improve your sight-reading ability? For students who are preparing for auditions, sight-reading is often the most challenging part of the process. In this 90-minute session, WCMS faculty member Seth Hamlin will work with students on sight-reading technique. We will practice sight-reading rhythm patterns without instruments, then work on reading examples similar to those you might encounter in a live audition.
All woodwind and brass students from sixth grade through adults are welcome. Please bring your instrument and the etude book you are using in your lessons.
Free for WCMS students; $10 for the general public.
