DESCRIPTION:Would you like to improve your sight-reading ability? For students who are preparing for auditions\, sight-reading is often the most challenging part of the process. In this 90-minute session\, oboe teaching artist Kyoko Hida-Battaglia will work with students on sight-reading technique. We will practice sight-reading rhythm patterns without instruments\, then work on reading examples similar to those you might encounter in a live audition. \nAll woodwind and brass students from sixth grade through adults are welcome. Please bring your instrument and the etude book you are using in your lessons. Free for WCMS students; $10 for the general public. \nRegistration is now closed.\n \n

Broadway On Highland is a wonderful showcase for our voice students and a delightful evening for all! See links below for the audience sing-along numbers. \n\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist.\n \nGuidelines for Performers: \n\nYou don’t need to be memorized\, but your selection should be well-prepared.\nBring your sheet music in a binder (no loose sheets\, lead or lyric sheets).\nBring an additional copy of your music for the accompanist which is complete\, copied back-to-back\, and in the key in which you plan to sing. It must be three-hole-punched and binder-ready before you arrive to sign up for your run-through time. No a cappella renditions are permitted.\nFamily-friendly lyrics and casual dress—no costumes or props\, please!\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist. DESCRIPTION:Want to know what music classes are like at Winchester Community Music School? Free demos of many classes are being offered during the week of September 3–7. Come try a class and meet the teachers before fall semester begins on September 9. There’s something for all ages! \nDemo Class Schedule & Sign-Up \nPlus\, you can bring the whole family to our annual MusicFest Open House on Sunday\, September 8\, 2:00–4:00 PM. This free event features meet-the-instrument sessions\, live demos\, a scavenger hunt with prizes\, and more! \nIf you wish to enroll in a class after attending a demo\, please be sure to do so at least 48 hours prior to the following week’s class.  Class size is limited and registration is on a first-come\, first-serve basis. Classes that have filled will be removed from the demo class schedule. All participants should be the appropriate age for the class as of 9/1/2024.
