DESCRIPTION:“Let’s Make Arrangements”\nPlease join us for the first Faculty Concert of 2024-2025\, featuring the Sempervirens Ensemble. Four virtuoso recorder players (Heloise Degrugillier\, Dan Meyers\, Emily O’Brien\, and Roy Sansom) will present a program which comprises music from the 14th century to this year. \nWorks will include Baroque keyboard pieces\, a medieval Estampie\, one of Ligeti’s Bagatelles for Wind Quintet\, the scherzo from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, a short piano prelude by Prokofiev\, and more. The members of the ensemble felt they simply had to create arrangements to play these compelling pieces. \nFree admission. Held in-person at WCMS and also streamed live on our YouTube channel and Facebook page. \n

Broadway on Highland is a wonderful showcase for our voice students and a delightful evening for all! \n\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist.\n \nGuidelines for Performers: \n\nYou don’t need to be memorized\, but your selection should be well-prepared.\nBring your sheet music in a binder (no loose sheets\, lead or lyric sheets).\nBring an additional copy of your music for the accompanist which is complete\, copied back-to-back\, and in the key in which you plan to sing. It must be three-hole-punched and binder-ready before you arrive to sign up for your run-through time. SUMMARY:Faculty Concert: "Harmonious Heights" with the Zefíra Trio
DESCRIPTION:Please join WCMS for its second faculty concert of the season\, featuring the Zefíra Trio: Olga Patramanska-Bell\, violin; Ashima Scripp\, cello; and Eleanor Perrone\, piano. The members of the Zefíra Trio have established themselves as solo artists and chamber musicians of the highest standard. They are top prize winners of many national and international competitions and appear often as soloists with orchestras or in major recital halls across the country. They seek to engage their audiences with the artistry and depth of their performances as well as lively\, informative comments on the music and its composers. \nThis program features a dynamic mix of expressive chamber works. Robert Paterson’s Summit Trio captures the drama and beauty of nature\, while Frank Bridge’s Miniatures Nos. 4-6 offer a series of intimate\, character-filled piano trio pieces. The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in C Minor\, Op. 66\, a passionate and technically brilliant work that blends lyrical beauty with dramatic intensity\, showcasing the composer’s mastery of form and emotion. \nFree admission. SUMMARY:Steel Drum Meet-Up
DESCRIPTION:Looking to hang out in the WCMS Pan Yard to practice your steel pan skills\, or test-drive a pan before signing up for our new steel drum ensemble in February? WCMS will be hosting three steel drum meet-up nights where you can drop in\, play the drums\, and practice your skills. These are casual evenings with no specific instruction or format. You can drop in at any point and stay as long as you wish. The meet-ups will be hosted by WCMS Advisor and volunteer\, Sara McCabe. She’ll have some song sheets that you can work on at your own pace and will be available to give tips and pointers. If you want to join us and bring your own drum\, you are welcome to do so. \nPlease let us know if you plan to join us by signing up for any or all of the dates.
