DESCRIPTION:Are you a string player who is curious about the art of fiddling? Whether you’re brand new to fiddling or have explored this art form before\, this workshop is for you! In this 90-minute session\, WCMS teaching artist Molly Tucker will lead participants through learning a fiddle tune and exploring what styling can make your playing sound like fiddle playing. The group will also explore chordal and rhythmic ideas to bring the tune to life in their own way. \nThis workshop is open to all intermediate-to-advanced string players. DESCRIPTION:Please note: Performing at Broadway On Highland is currently open to WCMS singers\, staff\, and their students only. Their invited guests are warmly welcomed to join the audience.\n \nCome support our talented singers and join in with the audience for the sing-along numbers. Broadway On Highland is a wonderful showcase for our voice students and a delightful evening for all! \n\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist.\n \nGuidelines for Performers: \n\nYou don’t need to be memorized\, but your selection should be well-prepared.\nBring your sheet music in a binder (no loose sheets\, lead or lyric sheets).\nBring an additional copy of your music for the accompanist which is complete\, copied back-to-back\, and in the key in which you plan to sing. It must be three-hole-punched and binder-ready before you arrive to sign up for your run-through time. No a cappella renditions are permitted.\nFamily-friendly lyrics and casual dress—no costumes or props\, please!\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist. DESCRIPTION:We’re looking for woodwind\, brass\, percussion\, ukulele\, guitar\, bass and other instrumentalists to play spooky themed music to kick off this fun town-wide event. No marching is required – we’ll play standing in place. Costumes are welcome. This event takes place in the Jenks Center parking lot\, across from Town Hall. We’ll meet at 10:00 AM in the parking lot for a quick run through rehearsal and play at 10:30 AM. SUMMARY:Faculty Concert: Reflections & Influences
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a collaborative solo piano concert featuring Dr. Jeong Yun Yang of WCMS with guest artist Dr. Minyoung Rho. As pianists from South Korea\, Dr. Rho and Dr. Yang have found in the United States a vibrant environment where different styles\, ideas\, and histories coexist. In this diverse setting\, they have seen music spark curiosity\, mutual respect\, and a sense of belonging. \nThe works in this program—by Amy Beach\, Mel Bonis\, Clifton Callender\, and Sergei Rachmaninoff—were each shaped by a similar spirit of musical interaction and communication. A post-concert conversation will reflect on how such interactions enrich our cultural lives. \nFree admission—all are welcome. A $20 suggested donation supports our concerts and performers. Held live in Nichols Performance Hall at WCMS and streamed live on our YouTube and Facebook channels. \n
