DESCRIPTION:Please note: Performing at Broadway On Highland is currently open to WCMS singers\, staff\, and their students only. Their invited guests are warmly welcomed to join the audience.\n \nCome support our talented singers and join in with the audience for the sing-along numbers. Broadway On Highland is a wonderful showcase for our voice students and a delightful evening for all! See links below for the audience sing-along numbers. \n\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist.\n \nGuidelines for Performers: \n\nYou don’t need to be memorized\, but your selection should be well-prepared.\nBring your sheet music in a binder (no loose sheets\, lead or lyric sheets).\nBring an additional copy of your music for the accompanist which is complete\, copied back-to-back\, and in the key in which you plan to sing. It must be three-hole-punched and binder-ready before you arrive to sign up for your run-through time. No a cappella renditions are permitted.\nFamily-friendly lyrics and casual dress—no costumes or props\, please!\nPerformers should arrive at 6:30 PM on the day of the event to run through their piece once with an accompanist. SUMMARY:Sight-Reading Superstars: Brass & Woodwind Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to improve your sight-reading ability? For students who are preparing for auditions\, sight-reading is often the most challenging part of the process. In this 90-minute session\, oboe teaching artist Kyoko Hida-Battaglia will work with students on sight-reading technique. We will practice sight-reading rhythm patterns without instruments\, then work on reading examples similar to those you might encounter in a live audition. \nAll woodwind and brass students from sixth grade through adults are welcome. Please bring your instrument and the etude book you are using in your lessons. Free for WCMS students; $10 for the general public. \nRegistration is now closed.\n \n

No marching is required – we’ll play standing in place. Costumes are welcome. This event takes place in the Jenks Center parking lot\, across from Town Hall. We’ll meet at 9:30 AM in the parking lot for a quick run through rehearsal and play at 10:30 AM. We should be wrapped up by around 10:45 AM.
