Adult Learner Coffee Klatch - CANCELLED

Friday, January 31, 2020

"Beethoven: The Revolutionary"

Of German origin, the word "klatch" refers to a casual gathering of people for refreshments and conversation. Join us for a morning social event—a klatch—just for our adult learners!

January 2020 kicks off the yearlong, international celebration of the 250th anniversary of Ludwig von Beethoven's birth. Join guest artist Mark Latham for a lively and informative discussion about "Beethoven: The Revolutionary." Mark will discuss Beethoven's ground-breaking work and explore the factors that enabled Beethoven to embrace radical change as an artist. Mark is an accomplished violinist and conductor and is currently a member of the Aryaloka String Quartet. He also appears regularly with Emmanuel Music in Boston, the New England Bach Festival, and the Springfield Symphony. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and serves as the Music Director of the New Hampshire Philharmonic.

We will have time after the presentation for students to share with the group a piece/song they are working on in their lesson or class. Students only, no audience members or guests, please. WCMS will provide coffee, tea, and pastries. Free admission. RSVP by phone (781-721-2950), email, or at the front office by Wednesday, January 29.
