Book Discussion & Live Jazz Concert:
Wednesday, March 8, 11:15 AM at The Gables, 299 Cambridge Street, Winchester
Join an Intergenerational Community Reads book club that is musically themed! We're looking for a group of senior adults and upper elementary/early middle school students to read a wonderful young adult book and then join us for a discussion and jazz concert at The Gables in Winchester.
Our chosen book is Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. This book is a winner of the Newbery Medal and the Coretta Scott King Award. Set in 1936, the story is about a 10-year old motherless boy on the run, searching for his father. His mother left him a clue, a flyer advertising Herman E. Calloway and his famous band, the Dusky Devastators of the Depression. Ready to participate? Here's what you need to do:
- RSVP by completing this form
- Read the chosen short fiction novel Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis, available at your local bookstore, your library, or online.
- Mark you calendar to join us on Wednesday, March 8 at 11:15 AM at The Gables in Winchester for a book discussion and fun jazz concert featuring faculty members from Winchester Community Music School.
- Note: March 8 is a professional development day for the Winchester Public Schools, there is no school that day.
This project is a collaboration between the Winchester Intergenerational Team, Winchester Community Music School, and The Jenks. Generous support for intergenerational programming provided by the Cummings Foundation.
