Event type:

  • Community Event

Postponed - stay tuned for a new date!

Presented in collaboration with the Jenks Center and the Winchester Intergenerational Team

Join us for an afternoon of fun! Together, we'll enjoy an intergenerational drum circle that promotes personal expression, socialization, and camaraderie. Group drumming can be a healthy activity and no prior music experience is necessary.

On a deeper level, group drumming builds bridges between generations while fostering nurturing, support, camaraderie, self-respect, and respect for others. It is not really about the drumming, but using the drum as a tool for communication and personal expression. This drum circle will be facilitated by WCMS Music Therapist and faculty member Monika Gibbons. Trained intergenerational facilitators will be on hand to support and encourage bonding between the generations.

Free admission. Masks are required while inside the WCMS building. This program is being held in accordance with Jenks Center policies; all participants must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the event. Seniors are encouraged to bring a grandchild or youth friend. Children should be aged 8 or older.
