Parents & Teachers in Harmony:
The Key to Student Success
Free workshop for WCMS student families and faculty
Both parents and teachers play a vital role in the success of the music student. But they are sometimes unclear about who should be doing what and how to motivate students. This workshop for parents and teachers clarifies their respective responsibilities, eliminating the confusion and frustration that can result in students who quit. Join music educator and parent Barbie Wong to learn how parents and teachers can work together to dramatically and positively impact the student's motivation and musical development. She will identify which tasks belong to the parent, teacher, and student, and how they can negotiate and work together most effectively. The result is students who flourish, enjoy their lessons, practice more consistently, and develop into adults with a deep love for music.
Barbie Wong is a music educator and speaker who teaches parents and music teachers how to inspire kids to make music. With music degrees from Stanford University and Smith College, Barbie believes that everyone has the capacity to learn music. Through her extensive research into the lives of musicians, Barbie has discovered simple, practical ways for parents to raise kids who love music. She has worked with hundreds of parents and music teachers throughout the world to help them understand motivation, effective practice, and joyful music-making.
Free for parents of WCMS students and faculty members. Child care will be available during the workshop (sign up in advance when you register).
