Remote Learning Guide: If your lessons with Andrew Bass are being held remotely, please review these set-up recommendations and technology requirements.
I began playing horn at the age of 11 and started private music lessons that year. Growing up in a musical home—with my parents being band directors—I was exposed to music at an early age. Initially drawn to many instruments, I eventually settled on the horn, and knew from the very beginning that music was something I wanted to pursue long term.
I ended up going to school here in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music, and received both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Horn Performance. I was extremely lucky to study with players of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in lessons as well as chamber music. While at the Conservatory, I pursued many performance opportunities including recitals, chamber performances, and orchestra performances. I also experimented with different styles of performance such as jazz and contemporary. Since my time at NEC, I have carried forward what I learned and applied it to my own teaching.
My goal is to facilitate an environment where my students can grow musically and individually and become the best players they can be. I hope to help my students find musical fulfillment in whatever way best speaks to them.
