Rock 101 (Ages 8-12)

The registration deadline for this program has passed.
Check back next year, or sign up for one or more private summer lessons to work on your instrument or work in the recording studio. Semi-private lessons are available as well; come with a friend! Submit an inquiry to our registrar to learn more.

Looking for cool summer fun? Rock 101 is an introduction to playing in a real rock and roll band. We will rehearse popular songs, write our own material, put on a concert, and make a recording of our original material in our state-of-the-art recording studio. This band isn't restricted to traditional rock instrumentation. All instruments (including strings, horns, and keys) are encouraged. No audition required; just bring your passion to perform, write, and record music!

Daily activities will include:

  • Songwriting
  • Lyric writing
  • Developing performance skills
  • Working in the recording studio
  • Listening exercises
  • Musically-inspired visual art activities
  • Outdoor recreation
