WCMS's new String Sinfonietta is ideal for intermediate level string players who are looking for an orchestral experience to supplement their school orchestra or string program. This ensemble has a nurturing environment to encourage students to achieve new levels in their playing while connecting musical peers from Winchester and the surrounding towns such as Medford, Stoneham, Woburn, Arlington, Burlington, Melrose, Wakefield, Reading, and beyond. Participants will perform a range of string orchestra repertoire. Concerts for family and friends are held in January and June, along with one outreach performance for the community in the spring.
Guidelines for Entrance: Students should be in the process of developing a beautiful sound, including comfortable use of vibrato, first through third positions, and fundamental bow strokes with varied articulations. Ideally, students should be playing repertoire equivalent to Suzuki Book 4 or ASTA grades 2-3.
