Percussion Ensemble

For grades 4-10. Our percussion ensembles are designed to enhance a student’s musicianship in all areas of percussion playing, and complement school band programs and private lessons.

Jenks Recorder Ensemble

This intermediate-level ensemble is for adults with previous experience in playing the recorder. The group studies Baroque, Renaissance, Romantic, and 20th-century music with particular emphasis on rhythm and musicality, in a supportive group atmosphere.

Chamber Music Ensembles

Performing in a chamber music ensemble is a very rewarding experience. Students expand their overall musicianship, technique, and performance skills. We welcome grade school children (ages 8+), teens, and adults.

Village Band

All ages and levels welcome! Pull that instrument out of the closet, the attic, or the basement and start playing. Village Band is a friendly, welcoming group that plays all sorts of music including light classical, Americana, pop, klezmer, and world folk music.

Jazz Ensembles

For older children, teens, and adults. For all lovers of jazz, our jazz ensembles consist of a rhythm section, including bass and percussion, and at least one of the following instruments: guitar, piano, brass, woodwind, string, and voice. Throughout the semester, students are coached weekly and learn, develop, and improve improvisation skills.

Youth Rock Bands

For ages 11-18. Come learn the ins-and-outs of playing with a rock band! You’ll learn how to read chord charts, work together with your band members, put a song list together, and prepare to play for an audience.

Adult Rock Bands

Our Adult Rock Bands are geared towards the advanced beginner/intermediate adult player who is interested in jamming on his or her favorite tunes in a fun but challenging atmosphere with like-minded players.

Stormy Monday Blues Ensemble

For teens and adults. Meet other musicians who share a love of the blues, learn to play in a band, and perform for family and friends at the end of the semester.

Rock & Blues Band

For teens and adults. Participate in a rock band and learn to read chord charts, put a song list together, and prepare to perform for an audience. You’ll play hits from classic rock, great blues artists, and today’s bands. Horn players welcome.

Motown Band

For teens and adults. Rediscover the classic sounds of the Motown bands. Learn and perform great soul, R&B, and funk hits from the 60’s and 70’s. The group can consist of horns, vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums.

Music Therapy

Remote offering – join anytime. We are excited to offer a special music therapy program to address the needs of Persons with Parkinson’s (PWPs). The program is a series of group sessions with music therapist Monika Gibbons.

Dalcroze Continuing Education

This continuing education program is for adults who seek the musical and pedagogical enrichment that Dalcroze Eurhythmics offers, and for teachers who would like to supplement their teaching with Dalcroze Eurhythmics techniques. A group class is offered as well as private and semi-private lessons.

Music Therapy Groups for Persons with Parkinson’s

Music therapy is an established health care profession. For PWP’s, music therapy has been shown to improve motor skills, vocal production, and social and emotional health. WCMS is offering in-person and remote options.

Group Ukulele

Ukulele is a fun and engaging instrument – it’s portable, fairly inexpensive, great for playing popular music, and fun to sing along with.

Suzuki Piano

Most students begin Suzuki piano instruction between 4 1/2 and 8 years old. The Suzuki Piano program provides young children with a natural, immersive method for learning piano. A unique aspect of the Suzuki program is the high level of parent involvement. Each student works closely with a parent – both at home and in the classroom – attending all lessons and classes together.

Eurhythmics + Piano

This class combines Eurhythmics activities with piano instruction, and is recommended for students who have taken a prior Eurhythmics class or by permission of the instructor.

Singing for Children

Give your child the advantage of learning the fundamentals of music by learning to us their first instrument…the voice! Using Dalcroze Eurhythmics movement and ear-training, students will unlock their own musical talent and confidence to be creative, expressive, and musically literate.

Eurhythmics + Melodica & Percussion

For children age 5. This two-semester class combines Dalcroze Eurhythmics instruction with singing and playing small percussion instruments and melodica.
