Financial Aid

Financial Aid

Winchester Community Music School is committed to making music education accessible to all. Each semester, we are pleased to offer financial aid awards based on demonstrated need and available funds.

  • Financial aid is available to students of all ages and experience levels—our community currently spans ages 2 to 100. Awards may be applied to most WCMS programs, including group classes.
  • Awards typically range from 20–50% of tuition for one class or program per student. In certain circumstances, awards above 50% may be considered based on individual need, available funds, and/or the recommendation of the Executive Director.
  • Our financial aid program is made possible through the generosity of many donors, whose support helps ensure that music education remains accessible to our community. All applications are reviewed confidentially through a blind process by the Executive Director and the Financial Aid Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Applying for Financial Aid

A new financial aid application must be filled out each academic year. Once a financial aid award is granted for the fall semester, it will be renewed for the spring semester. However, receiving an award during the school year does not guarantee an award for the summer semester.

As part of the application process, applicants are asked to provide brief documentation to help us understand their financial circumstances. This may include a recent tax return, pay stub, or other information reflecting household income or assets. Providing this information allows us to make fair and thoughtful decisions in allocating our limited financial aid resources.

We understand that this information is personal, and WCMS is committed to handling all materials with the utmost care and strict confidentiality. Applications are considered complete once all required documentation has been received.

If you need assistance completing the form or have any questions, please call 781-721-2950 or email wcms@winchestermusic.org—we’re happy to help.

Financial Aid Deadlines

To ensure full consideration, applicants are encouraged to submit all materials by the deadlines below:

  • Returning Fall Students:
    • June 1
  • New Fall Students:
    • July 1 (early consideration)
    • August 15 (regular consideration)
  • New Spring Students:
    • January 10
  • New Summer Session Students:
    • May 15 (early consideration)
    • June 1 (regular consideration)

After any of these dates, applications will be considered on a rolling basis as funds allow during each semester.
