Group Ukulele (Kids, Teens & Adults)

Ukulele is a fun and engaging instrument—it’s portable, fairly inexpensive, great for playing popular music, and fun to sing along with. It’s also a great primer for learning other stringed instruments. Whether you’re a beginner or already have a little experience, come join our friendly group classes!

ages 6-9

Intro to Ukulele

Join us for some fun and fabulous music! This class will introduce kids to playing ukulele in a group setting. Through musical games, movement, and singing, we’ll develop our musicianship skills together. We’ll work on chords and strumming, and learn a few songs that are great for beginners. This is also a good refresher class if you have a little bit of uke experience already.  Level 2 is for continuing students or by approval of instructor. When you’re ready, take the next step and join the WCMS Ukulele Club, where you’ll continue to work on songs and build your skills.

For students who are 6–9 years old as of 9/1/2024. Maximum of 6 students per class.

Students should come to class with their own ukulele. Suggested entry level brands available locally include:

Intro to Ukulele

Don’t let the little kids have all the fun … teens and adults can learn to play ukulele too! In Level 1, we’ll teach you the basics you need to know to get going on this popular instrument. You’ll come away with having a few songs under your fingers and the ability to figure out more tunes on your own. Students should come to the first class session with their own ukulele—see suggested recommended brands above.

Depending on student interest and instructor recommendation, group ukulele students can continue learning as a group beyond Level 1 or join a Ukulele Ensemble.

Note: This program can accept new students until the second class of the session; please contact the registrar for availability. Tuition will be prorated.
