SoundBreaking Capital Campaign

Building the Future of Music at WCMS

For more than four decades, Winchester Community Music School has been a warm and welcoming home for music education, performance, and community engagement. Each year, more than 1,100 students of all ages learn and grow at WCMS, and the school presents over 150 faculty concerts, student recitals, and community events.

SoundBreaking is a $5.7 million capital campaign to transform and expand WCMS’s Home for Music.

Through philanthropy, this investment will empower WCMS to better serve current and future students, host high-caliber performances, embrace modern music technology, and deepen its mission of providing outstanding and diverse musical education and performance—accessible to all.

The SoundBreaking campaign will expand WCMS’s Home for Music with purpose-built spaces designed to inspire creativity, innovation, and commitment to access.

New Nichols Performance Hall

A 135-seat concert hall with state-of-the-art acoustics, designed for students, faculty, and guest artists. This inspiring space will invite audiences into the heart of the musical experience.

New Teaching Rooms & Studios

Purpose-built spaces to support the breadth of WCMS program:  an ensemble studio with incorporated technology, a dedicated percussion studio, and multiple new private lesson teaching studios bringing our total to 27 studios throughout the Home for Music.

New Music Technology Lab

An innovative production space where students can compose, record, and create using today’s and tomorrow’s tools. High quality audio recordings can be made in adjacent ensemble rooms and the concert hall.

The Impact

This expansion isn’t just about space—it’s about what your investment makes possible:

Students – More opportunities for young musicians and adult learners to discover and grow their passion for music.
Creativity – New pathways for collaboration, ensembles, bands, and digital production.
Community – A state-of-the-art performance space that positions WCMS as a vibrant cultural destination.
Inclusion – ADA-compliant updates ensuring full, barrier-free access for all members of our community.

Let’s Build the Future of Music. Together.
