Pronouns: He/Him or They/Them

I am a violinist who grew up right here, only seven minutes from WCMS! I took many of the same lessons, classes, and ensembles that you will hopefully take here at some point, including Suzuki Violin, private violin lessons, chamber music ensembles, music theory classes, and Summer Chamber Music Festival. Having grown up in the WCMS community, I’m thrilled to now get the opportunity to teach here!

I have played the violin since I was four years of age and started taking lessons in the Suzuki Method. Since I was young I’ve loved participating in Suzuki festivals all around the country—from Colorado to New York—and playing chamber music, often at WCMS’ Summer Chamber Music Festival. Teaching and working with violin students, and through music helping them grow into great people, has always been something I care deeply about. I’ve loved seeing many returning Summer Chamber Music students develop musically and emotionally throughout my years as a counselor and as an Ensemble in Residence student. I played with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years, and after moving to Finland at age 17, performed with orchestras in Helsinki and Turku. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Helsinki before returning home to the United States.

I have taught violin privately for many years, and more recently received my Suzuki teacher training from Christie Felsing in Ithaca, NY, where I had the opportunity to study with many skilled teachers and pedagogues. In addition to teaching violin at WCMS, I am also a teaching assistant for the school’s Saturday Chamber Music program and Summer Chamber Music Festival.
