I started playing the piano when I was four, and soon it fit naturally into my daily life. The piano wasn’t just something I studied or practiced; it became my companion. I remember inventing stories inspired by the music I was learning, playing background music during playtime with my siblings, improvising melodies, and even trying to add notes to the syllables of my favorite book—though, looking back, those notes didn’t make much musical sense! For me, those moments were about exploration, imagination, and letting music become part of my world.

As I grew older and entered college, my curiosity about the deeper meanings in music took root. I often found myself wondering: what message did the composer want to communicate with this composition? How does this particular musical idea convey a story or an emotion? I began to see music as a language—one that I was eager to learn and speak fluently as a performer. The more I immersed myself in my studies, the more I understood how music could deliver powerful messages and elicit personal responses from its listeners.

This realization lies at the heart of my teaching philosophy. I’m committed to helping my students develop not only their technical skills but also a deep appreciation for music as a form of expression. I guide them through a comprehensive approach, where they learn basic music theory, aural skills, and the historical and cultural context of the pieces they play. Through this process, students gain the tools to shape their own interpretations and foster their unique voices as musicians.

Ultimately, my goal as a teacher is to inspire a lifelong passion for music in each student. I believe that learning to play the piano is more than mastering an instrument—it’s about building connections between music, self, and the world. I aim to show my students how music-making can enrich their personal lives and create meaningful shared experiences with others.
