Enrolling Now: Fall Semester Begins September 8
Congratulations to all of the recent high school graduates in the WCMS community! We’re glad that they will bring the benefits and lessons learned through their music study into their next chapter of life, no matter where they go and what they do next. Four of them—Claire Chen, Sam Gordon, Brady Miller, and Henrick Rabinovitz—shared some thoughts with us about what studying music at WCMS has meant to them.
Claire Chen has been studying cello at WCMS with Pamela Ambrose since 2022.
When asked what her music studies have meant to her, Claire responded, “I improved so much more at Winchester Community Music School than I ever have before!”
We’re so glad to hear that you had such a good experience here, Claire, and we wish you the best of luck in whatever new adventures life brings your way!
Sam Gordon has explored a number of instruments in his time with WCMS, including piano and French horn, before beginning guitar lessons with Mike Verge in 2020. Sam has studied with Mike ever since.
When asked what music study has meant to him, Sam responded, “No matter what’s been going on in my life, music has been there for me. I’ve been able to experiment and just enjoy it.”
We hope that music will continue to provide that sense of joy and creativity when Sam heads off to UMass Amherst for college in the fall. Congrats, Sam, and we can’t wait to see what the next chapter of life brings you!
Brady Miller first joined the WCMS community as a student in Maurice Cahen’s Intro to Guitar class, then came back for private lessons a few years later. He has been a student of Tad Hitchcock ever since.
Speaking of his time here at WCMS, Brady observes how much he’s enjoyed learning how to play the songs that he likes to listen to.
Congratulations on your graduation, Brady, and we hope that music continues to be a source of fun and inspiration for you when you enter Colgate University in the fall!
Henrick Rabinovitz is a gifted pianist who has studied for years with Dr. Yun Lee and has also been a regular participant in our Summer Piano Festival, Summer Chamber Music Festival, and chamber ensemble program. He has also participated in a variety of local and regional competitions; last year, he played in the First Place Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall after participating in the Crescendo International Competition.
When asked what his music study has meant to him, Henrick responded, “From great summer programs to quality private lessons, WCMS offered me a myriad of resources, opportunities, and experiences for a great education in music and performance. Shoutout to my piano teacher Dr. Yun Lee for always pushing my playing to the next level and for organizing the Summer Chamber Music Festival, which gave me a first experience as a pianist in ensemble music, and to my piano trio and its coaches for allowing that great experience to continue during the school year.”
While finishing his senior year, Henrick also began studying mathematics at MIT. We look forward to seeing what life brings your way, Henrick, and we hope that music will continue to be a lifelong source of joy for you!
