Every step forward brings us closer to the expanded, vibrant home that our WCMS community has been working towards for many years. This is so exciting and here are a few highlights from the summer work.

What’s New with the Expansion

  • The foundation is set and our new building is truly beginning to take shape—it feels wonderful to see our vision coming to life together!
  • If you stop by the school this fall, you may notice some temporary interior walls. Behind them, exciting changes are unfolding—like the new elevator shaft and the connections to our future new Nichols Hall.
  • We’re also making important updates that will benefit our whole community: improved fire safety, re-worked heating and cooling, plumbing updates, and a rebuilt handicap ramp to ensure our Home for Music is welcoming and accessible for all.

It Takes a Village!

  • You will likely hear more from us soon (if you haven’t already) as we work together to raise the necessary funds to bring this project to fruition. It is a big lift and as you know well, we are a small local organization. Together we will build a lasting legacy of music!
  • We’re so grateful to everyone who is working hard on this project, and to everyone who is adjusting to changing conditions as the project moves along. Our thanks to you!

Where Can I Learn More?

WCMS is committed to keeping the WCMS community and our neighbors updated about what to expect throughout the project. We will continue to send out periodic updates, and you can check our Building Expansion web page for some helpful FAQs for student families. And of course, we hope you will feel free to reach out at any time if you have questions or concerns.

“Coffee and Conversations with Laurie”

Monthly “Coffee and Conversations with Laurie” continue on Wednesday, September 17 at 10:00 AM. These are informal sessions where you can hear firsthand about all the fabulous things happening at WCMS, as well as have a bird’s eye view of the school’s building expansion construction site from Laurie’s office window. Send Laurie an email if you plan to stop over.
