Eurhythmics + Melodica & Percussion (Age 5)
This multi-faceted class will develop your child's musical sense by combining Dalcroze Eurhythmics experiences with singing and playing small percussion instruments as well as melodica. The melodica is a portable wind instrument that looks like a piano keyboard and allows students to easily produce sound by blowing into it. In the first semester, we focus on rhythmic skills using small percussion instruments including glockenspiel, rhythm sticks, cymbals, and hand drums. The second semester focuses on playing melodica as well as singing, ear-training, basic sight-reading, and music notation recognition.
At the end of each semester, the group will present an informal concert for parents and friends with students performing as soloists or in ensemble. Materials fee includes a brand new melodica that the student brings to every class and uses for in-home practice. Maximum eight students per section. For children age 5 as of 9/1/2019.
Spring semester begins: February 3, 2020
Note: This program can accept new students until the fourth class of the fall semester. This is a two-semester class; students enroll in the fall and are automatically re-enrolled for spring.
Tuition per semester: $372 (16 classes)
Materials fee per year: $50 for melodica
