This two-week chamber music program provides an in-depth, immersive experience for young musicians that includes multiple chamber ensembles, master classes, music theory/appreciation classes, workshops in special topics, private lessons, arts & crafts, and wellness/recreation. Public performances are held at the conclusion of the program.
Join us for five days of activities designed to bring pianists together in a fun, interactive piano ensemble program. Participants enjoy the social aspects of playing in an ensemble with one another, as well as learning the skills to play in a small group.
Children can begin Suzuki lessons for piano or violin as early as age 4, depending upon faculty recommendation. The Suzuki approach combines a method for teaching music with a philosophy that embraces the total development of the child. By integrating listening, a nurturing environment, and parent participation, young children learn to play music in the same organic way that they learn language.
In music theory classes, our goal is to instill a deep appreciation and understanding of music in all of our students. In Music Theory: Fundamentals, we start with the essential building blocks of music and move on to advanced concepts.
Performing in a chamber music ensemble is a very rewarding experience. Students expand their overall musicianship, technique, and performance skills. We welcome grade school children (ages 8+), teens, and adults.
All ages and levels welcome! Pull that instrument out of the closet, the attic, or the basement and start playing. Village Band is a friendly, welcoming group that plays all sorts of music including light classical, Americana, pop, klezmer, and world folk music.
For older children, teens, and adults. For all lovers of jazz, our jazz ensembles consist of a rhythm section, including bass and percussion, and at least one of the following instruments: guitar, piano, brass, woodwind, string, and voice. Throughout the semester, students are coached weekly and learn, develop, and improve improvisation skills.
For ages 11-18. Come learn the ins-and-outs of playing with a rock band! You’ll learn how to read chord charts, work together with your band members, put a song list together, and prepare to play for an audience.
Our Adult Rock Bands are geared towards the advanced beginner/intermediate adult player who is interested in jamming on his or her favorite tunes in a fun but challenging atmosphere with like-minded players.
For teens and adults. Meet other musicians who share a love of the blues, learn to play in a band, and perform for family and friends at the end of the semester.
For teens and adults. Rediscover the classic sounds of the Motown bands. Learn and perform great soul, R&B, and funk hits from the 60’s and 70’s. The group can consist of horns, vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums.
Most students begin Suzuki piano instruction between 4 1/2 and 8 years old. The Suzuki Piano program provides young children with a natural, immersive method for learning piano. A unique aspect of the Suzuki program is the high level of parent involvement. Each student works closely with a parent – both at home and in the classroom – attending all lessons and classes together.
This class combines Eurhythmics activities with piano instruction, and is recommended for students who have taken a prior Eurhythmics class or by permission of the instructor.
Our faculty members are accomplished professionals in many genres including classical, jazz, rock, folk, blues, country, and popular music.
