Enrolling Now: Fall Semester Begins September 8
This small-group class is for beginning and intermediate singers who would like to improve their singing voice and develop skills to perform in front of others. Throughout the semester, students will explore the fundamentals of healthy vocal production, which include: alignment and breath management, tone production, diction (clear pronunciation of text), expression, musicality, and stage confidence.
Each class session will consist of group warm-ups and exercises. The first half of the 12-week session will be spent sampling a selection of repertoire, after which each participant will choose one piece to focus on for their individual practice.
During the second half of the session, each class will include 1-2 individual performances where each student will receive feedback from the instructor and fellow students. Individual vocal challenges will be assessed, and exercises will be given to help address these areas. The session will conclude with a recital for participants to share their progress with friends and family. Although participation in the recital is not required, students should be prepared to sing individually in class.
Materials Needed: Once participants have chosen their individual pieces, they will need to bring a copy of their sheet music to every class. In addition, students are encouraged to purchase/download a karaoke or backing track for their selected piece for home practice.
