String Department Information

As a string student at WCMS, there are numerous opportunities to participate in recitals, workshops, and special events. In addition to the String Department events listed below, there are additional events open to all WCMS students as well as events for Adult Learners (see our event calendar for more details). WCMS offers private lessons in violin, viola, cello, and upright bass; a Suzuki Violin program (ages 4+), and a number of ensembles that welcome all ages.

MMEA Senior Districts Mock Audition Workshop 
Saturday, November 1, 2025
3:00 – 4:30 PM 

• Open to all singers and instrumentalists, grades 9-12 who are auditioning for Senior Districts 
• $30 per participant; register by October 27

Fiddling Workshop with Molly Tucker
Friday, November 7, 2025
6:15 – 7:45 PM

• Open to all intermediate-to-advanced string players
• Free for WCMS students/$15 for non-WCMS students

MMEA Junior Districts Mock Audition Workshop 
Friday, January 16, 2026
6:15 – 7:45 PM 

• Open to all singers and instrumentalists, grades 6-9 who are auditioning for Junior Districts 
• $30 per participant; register by January 12

String Department Honors Concert

• Signup process: by teacher nomination
• Dress Code: Concert attire (dresses, dress shirt and pants, dress shoes. No jeans, gym pants or sneakers)
